Personally, I don't think this is possible as after twins are born, their brains develop separately. If it is possible, I think it would only happen with identical twins as they share the same genes.
Twins have connections that no normal brothers or sisters have. Some say that they have mental connections and they can guess what the other twin is thinking. This may be linked to feeling each others pain.
A set of twins who lived in different countries once bought the same trousers, in the same colour, from the same shop, on the same day. They did this without knowing but they must have had an urge to buy them.
Also, a twin went into labour and the other one got cramps as soon as she did. another example of twins feeling each others pain is that once, a twin hurt her knee and the other twin started limping.
Interesting! Scientists have done lots of studies on sets of identical twins that were separated at birth (by being adopted into two different families) and have found that a lot of things that are genetic that you might think would be more about how you are raised, like what kind of job you end up doing, or the kind of person you fall in love with.
ReplyDeleteI'm a twin but not an identical one: I have a twin brother. We are so different it's like we're not even related! However, I did once have a dream he was in a car accident and the next day I found out he had been! Spooky...

ReplyDeleteI think if you know anyone well ( whether you're related to them or not ) you get to know their habits, what they like etc. and you know how they'll react in certain circumstances. So it doesn't seem impossible to me that twins might have an advanced form of the same thing. But I don't think they read each other's minds!
